"I Still Know Her"

Posted by foundationforbethany on June 22, 2010 at 3:58 PM

Honoring your elders is still something that is taken seriously around here.  In the June 2010 issue of the Bethany Beat, Bethany's Chaplain wrote a really nice article about a lady he visited with recently.  She mentioned to him that her grandmother was in a nursing home in a neighboring town.  She said that her grandmother no longer knew her when she visited, but that she still kept going to see her.  When asked why she continued to go visit her, the lady replied, "She may not know me, but I still know her."  Her grandmother's ability to remember her was not an issue - she was just returning the love her grandmother had shown her over the years.

This is an admirable attitude and one that we all strive to emulate. Working in senior care is a blessing - we strive every day to honor the residents we have in our care.
